In deze tussentijdse expositie toont Esra Çöpür een inkijk in haar lopende
project Everything I Touch Turns Into Me. Het project is een visueel onderzoek waarin Esra
haar intuïtie inzet om abstracte gedachtegangen tastbaar te maken. In alles wat ze maakt,
vormt ze een deel van haarzelf. “Soms vinden mijn handen antwoorden waar mijn geest
mee worstelt”, aldus Esra.
Esra Çöpür is een eclectische fashion designer en visueel kunstenaar uit Amsterdam die
zich fluïde beweegt tussen mode en beeldende kunst. In haar multidisciplinaire praktijk
combineert ze fashion met installatiekunst, performance en film. Ze herdefinieert
bestaande kledingstukken, werkt met hergebruikte materialen en laat zich inspireren door
haar Turkse roots. Zo verkent ze mode als expressievorm en als culturele drager, steeds
op zoek naar onverwachte contrasten en gelaagde verhalen.
Als onderdeel van Everything I Touch Turns Into Me creëert Esra Copur nieuw, beeldend
werk, waarin haar abstracte ideeën verder tot leven komen. Het project nodigt haar uit om
na te denken over hoe we gevormd worden door onze omgeving, en hoe we deze op onze
beurt ook zelf weer vormgeven.
Een belangrijk onderdeel van dit onderzoek is het kijken naar de kledingstijlen van
Nederlands-Turkse vrouwen in Nederland in relatie tot vrouwen in Turkije Daarbij verwijst
Esra ook naar traditionele klederdracht uit het Ottomaanse Rijk. Door de twee werelden
naast elkaar te plaatsen, onderzoekt ze hoe migratie, globalisering en sociale context de
manier waarop mensen zich kleden beïnvloeden.
Omdat deze expositie deel uitmaakt van een lopend proces, worden bezoekers van harte
uitgenodigd om hun gedachten, reflecties of persoonlijke associaties te delen.

In this exhibition, Esra Çöpür offers a glimpse into her ongoing project Everything I Touch
Turns Into Me. The exhibition is a visual exploration in which Esra Uses her intuition to
give form to abstract trains of thoughts. In everything she creates, she shapes a part of
herself. “Sometimes my hands find answers my mind struggles with”, she reflects.
Esra Çöpür is an eclectic fashion designer and visual artist from Amsterdam who moves
interchangeably between her core capabilities. In her multidisciplinary practice, she
combines fashion with installation art, performance and film. She redefines existing
garments, works with reused materials, and draws inspiration from her Turkish roots.
Through this, Çöpür explores fashion as both a means of expression and vessel for
cultural narrative– always in search of unexpected contrasts and layered meanings.

As part of Everything I Touch Turns Into Me, Esra Çöpür creates new visual work that
further brings her abstract ideas to life. The project prompts her to reflect on how we are
shaped by our surroundings– and, in turn, how we shape those surroundings ourselves.
A key element of her research involves examining the clothing styles of Dutch-Turkish
women in the Netherlands in relation to those of women in Turkey. Esra also references
traditional garments from the Ottoman Empire. By placing these cultural spheres side by
side, she investigates how migration, globalization, and social context influences the way
people dress.
As this exhibition is part of an ongoing process, visitors are warmly invited to share their
reflections, thoughts, and personal associations.
